Who's really cooking. How it's really rated.

MenuGhost is an iPhone app that checks a restaurant from your delivery app. It tells you whether the restaurant is real, a virtual brand or a ghost kitchen, and shows the Google rating for that exact restaurant.

Coming soon to the App Store

How it works

  1. Open a restaurant in your delivery app, tap Share and choose MenuGhost. You can also copy the restaurant's link and paste it into the app.
  2. MenuGhost reads the restaurant's name and address and checks what is at that address in public health-inspection records, Apple Maps, Google and a list of known delivery-only brands.
  3. A few seconds later you see the answer, with the evidence behind it.

What the answers mean

Each answer lists its evidence, for example “This address also hosts 11 other delivery brands.” An answer describes where the food is made, not its quality, safety or honesty.

Ratings for this restaurant only

MenuGhost shows the Google rating and number of reviews for the exact restaurant or brand you shared. If a brand has no Google listing of its own, you see “No Google listing for this name” instead of another restaurant's rating. In New York City you also see the restaurant's health inspection grade and date.

Private by design

There is no account and no sign-up, and the app has no ads or tracking. Your recent checks are kept on your iPhone. See the privacy policy for details.

Price

Your first 3 checks are free. After that, unlimited checks cost $1.99 a month or $9.99 a year, billed through your Apple Account. You can cancel anytime.

Where it works

MenuGhost works across the United States. New York City has the most detail, including health grades and inspection records.
